The Build-Up to Redemption
Ronin operator sports filming in last season’s finale, Tango Squad FC suffered a tough 2-0 defeat against F2 FC. That loss weighed heavily on the players. This year, after two more back-to-back defeats, the squad faced their biggest challenge yet. Heading to Old Trafford, they were not just chasing silverware. They were fighting for their pride, battling Hashtag United for the Tango Cup and the ultimate chance at redemption.
Filming in Manchester and Liverpool
Capturing the intensity of this grassroots football story required a professional approach to sports filming. Our crew filmed on location across Manchester and Liverpool, following the team through training sessions, off-pitch reflections, and match-day drama. Each setting added depth to the story, showcasing the connection between the players, the community, and the sport they love.
Behind the Camera: Sony FS7 and Ronin Operation
As part of the crew, I operated the Sony FS7, a versatile and reliable camera widely used in sports filming and documentary production. Its Super 35mm sensor, strong colour depth, and slow-motion capabilities made it perfect for capturing fast-paced football action while maintaining cinematic quality. Shooting in S-Log3 gave us the dynamic range needed for unpredictable outdoor conditions at Old Trafford.
To complement this, we used Ronin operator sports filming techniques to add fluid movement and energy to the visuals. Tracking shots on the gimbal created immersive sequences that put the audience right in the middle of the game. These tools combined allowed us to balance both the raw pace of football and the emotion driving the players forward.
