Northern Fashion Week Filming

It’s been a busy week of Northern Fashion Week filming in Manchester. Hosted at Manchester Central Convention Centre in the city centre, the event ran from Thursday 8th to Saturday 9th July and brought together a strong mix of talent, energy, and northern creativity.

Tomorrow’s Creative provided crew and equipment across the event, capturing the designers, the models, and the atmosphere to support a promotional film. On a fashion showcase like this, the goal is simple: deliver coverage that feels premium, moves at pace, and communicates the scale of the event—while still letting the work, the styling, and the craft shine.

Northern Fashion Week continues to grow year on year, and the content needs to work hard too. That’s why Northern Fashion Week filming isn’t just about runway coverage. It’s also about the moments around it: arrivals, backstage detail, reactions, and the energy in the room. Those shots add texture and help the final film feel immersive rather than staged.

Production approach

We shot in UHD using a combination of Sony FS7 and Sony A7s cameras. This gave us speed, flexibility, and a consistent look throughout the schedule. We combined live multi-camera coverage with a more natural documentary-style approach, which meant we could cover the key “must-have” moments while still capturing authentic story beats in between.

This hybrid approach works particularly well for fashion event filming. Multi-cam ensures clean runway coverage. Documentary coverage then brings the personality, detail, and atmosphere that makes the event memorable.

Topshop Aircushion. Director of Photography on new Topshop Promo

Director of Photography London: Tomorrow’s Creative provided DoP support, crew, and a full camera package for a new Topshop promotional video for the Air Cushion Skin Perfector.

This social-first promo needed clean, confident visuals that read fast in a feed. So we focused on flattering light, crisp detail, and a smooth beauty finish. We also kept the framing simple. That way, the product and talent stayed front and centre in every shot.

Director of Photography London for beauty and fashion content

Beauty films live or die on tone, texture, and consistency. Therefore, we built a look that felt premium without feeling heavy. We aimed for natural skin tones and controlled highlights. We also captured a mix of hero shots and supporting cutaways. As a result, the edit team had plenty of options for different timings and placements.

Production details (London)

We shot at Loft Studios in London across two days. The schedule moved quickly, so we planned lighting setups that could adapt fast. In addition, we kept camera movement purposeful. That helped us maintain pace while protecting the clean commercial style.

For this job, we used two ARRI Amira cameras with Zeiss Cinema Zoom lenses. This combo gave us a cinematic image and reliable flexibility. It also helped us match angles and exposure across setups. Because of that, the footage stayed consistent from scene to scene.

Creative + deliverables

James Melrose worked as Director of Photography London on the shoot. Katie Freestone at Topshop directed and edited the project. Together, the team kept the film sharp, stylish, and on-brand.

The final deliverable targeted a 30–60 second runtime for social channels. So we captured clean product moments, strong portraits, and extra inserts for cutdowns. If you’re planning a similar campaign and need a Director of Photography in London, we can support with crew, kit, and a streamlined workflow.
