Award winning observational documentary series using specialist cameras to capture in incredible detail the behaviour of the animals at the most popular zoo in the UK – Chester Zoo, Cheshire.

Tomorrow’s Creative provided Blast Films with a Director of Photography on season 8 of Secret Life of the Zoo. Filmed on location in Chester Zoo, Cheshire during the summer of 2018. The show is cleverly narrated documentary about the everyday life of both animals and the zoo keepers at the world famous establishment.

During the shoot we filmed a wide range of animals from tall giraffes right down to the smallest insects. For some of the setups it required our DOP sitting and waiting in a custom build hide out for several hours to capture the perfect shot.

We used specialist macro photography to capture the some what disturbing life of some of the spiders life at the zoo. We recorded one species of spider where once the spiders have mated the female spider eats the male spider.
